Cryptic released an update for CO today, January 19. With it comes some bugfixes as well as new stuff. Here's a short list of what I've found so far.



Class Icons

Above players' heads now appear five icons (so far). They appear to indicate what class of hero the player is: + indicating healer, shield indicating tank, bullet indicating ranged, fist indicating DPS. Not sure what gear indicates (it's probably obvious but I'm at a loss for the moment).
These also appear for freeforms. I am not sure how they are implemented (maybe calculated and determined by what type of power is most common in a player's powerset?). I heard some zone chat saying everyone started out with the + until it was manually changed, but that's unconfirmed.



Important Item Glow

The glow for important items is now of slightly blue hue and is more of a "wave" than a series of "lines". The direction of sweep is now left->right, opposite of what it used to be.



Mission Arrow

When a mission is selected as primary, a 3D pointer will now appear above the player's head.
(I really like this one. No more constantly checking the minimap!)



Mission Tracker (image split horizontally to save post space)

Missions in the tracker on your HUD are now numbered, and clicking the number will bump it to #1, making setting primary missions much faster now. Mission titles now appear the color of their level relative to yours (orange in my case because they're all 35 and I'm 33) instead of the normal yellow. Mission numbers also appear on the minimap and the area indicator is now yellow with several faded rings inside it (appearing more like a SONAR screen to me).



AUCTION HOUSE

There are several other notes of high importance, such as:
  • Added Role header to AT description (similar to Guardian and Concepts) This say "TANK" or "RANGED DPS" etc.
  • ATs are now broken into class/role groups.
  • Remote power training - no need to travel back to Power House to train-up powers.
  • New and improved Tutorial.
  • Added new "Green Room" inside the Power House/Tailor. In here, players can take screenshots of their costumes in a background that makes it easier to edit screencaps.
  • Auto Grouping: Players will be added to a Super Group when they make a new character. (Not sure how I feel about that.)
  • Open Mission Teaming: When players enter an open mission area they will be prompted to join an open team "Teamup"
  • Large map (M) shows mission list and mission details.
  • Items: Dark Speed: This item now drops correctly ranked versions based upon player level.

this is the best set of updates yet. plus, the arrow is a lot more precise than the 'it's around here' on the mini map

I completely agree; it's so far my most liked update.
The only thing with the arrow is it points to the exact center of the circle if the mission has one... so, technically it isn't that much more precise, it just saves the trouble of having to check the minimap so often.

No problem. The game has definitely been fleshed out a lot more (especially since I played before my really long hiatus, holy crap).
