Dead chat?

I heard others are expierencing it too... now I can't write into any chat anymore, if I whisper it says "chat is offline"...

maybe I am being hypocritical but... is this common ?

I can't even play normally....my net keeps on breaking, so I cant do shit...fuck my life.. -_-

Im stating a fact.

My chat seems to have shut itself down too. This is the second time it has done it entirely, the first was fixed by logging out and logging back in. This time I tried both that and restarting the game entirely and neither got it to work. This is starting to be a serious issue.

The chat was recently totally screwed over by the recent patch. It phases in and out of reality, most of the time inconveniencing us all during SG events...

SO... eevrything we can do is wait?
I tried writing a ticket to the GM's or whatever but I couldn't :<

Don't write to GM's they never respond in time/actually help. Apparently chat is down as Cryptic is working on how to stop it from random deaths. At least that's what I've read.

For the meantime, if the chat stays dead and such


we could use an old WoW guild teamspeak 3 server. It is... well pretty much dead in activity but still there.

But seriously, this is very frustrating. I'm a social creature, I don't play CO to play a single player game. I got plenty of other games for that, and notice I'm not on them. The forums are not active enough to be a suitable replacement for regular SG communication

I saw by the way SeanDavidson that you somehow still have SG chat! Lucky dog. I can't see any chat at all, and the only channel I have access to is Local (which I still can't see)

This just in:
I logged in with a nonbeasties alt and he could see chat fine! could USE it even! what the hell? so I logged back in as Janet andt ried. got all my chat channels back, but still couldn't say anything.

and then I switched back to the alt and now he can't say anything either. Is chat down or what? I thought maybe they had taken Chat down to fix it but now I think it might just simply be THAT badly broken.

They wont fully take it down as long as it works even a little bit. If they did remove it entirely they would probably feel that they would have to compensate us for something or another while doing all the repair work on something we don't have access to. I believe they have the mindset of try to actively fix it, that way they can also see that their changes are having an effect.

As for using something other then the in game chat to chat with, Steam is a good one to use for when you wanna talk to just a single person. I really haven't tried to test out of we can get messages going to a group rather then to just one person there, but either way, being able to chat with them is still nice.

Xfire is another program that we could use, although it actually has chat rooms. I would have to reinstall it on my computer and sign up for it again (old account info lost) but it is something that we might be able to use that was actually made for gamers back in the day.

We could form a steam group, at which point messages sent through the steam group are sent as notifications to all members of the group. the only problem with that is that it's really a one sided conversation by the limited number of people in control of the group, plus I imagine not everyone is on CO through Steam.

Or use team speak.

As long as you have steam, you can make it to where you can run programs with steam in the background when you do the right things. I believe there is something about adding game to library. Then you pick the desktop shortcut and it "adds" it to steam. As long as you start the game up through steam, it will have the steam chat running in the background. But if you use the desktop shortcut, steam doesn't do its thing.
